Age: 20
How long They've Been in the Deck: Approximately six years
Suit/Rank: Joker

History: Juliette was three years old the first time her adoptive parents "sold" her to a man who "liked" children. He was nice, kind and had lots of candy, but later on, he started hurting her very badly. As did the next man she met, and the next, and the next, until finally at the age of eight she watched her foster sister Clarice drive a pair of scissors into the stomach of one of those men and a brand new world opened up for little Juliette. Unfortunately, the world ended for Clarice, the family moved out of state and the cycle began all over again. Until three months later, when her adopted parents found Juliette, covered in blood, standing over the still gurgling body of one of their "new customers", the gory cleaver still in her small hand.

It was almost the end of the world for Juliette, too, but before it did, the police arrived and took her and the rest of her brothers and sisters away. Not long after, Juliette went home with a nice couple from New Jersey. They had children of their own already, a girl, twelve, and a boy, thirteen, but they wanted to help little Juliette and give her a real family again. She went to school, made a few friends, learned how to "fit in" seamlessly with the rest of the crowd, fooling everyone with her shy smile and bright eyes. It was only four years later, when her "older brother" Richie came home early one afternoon while Juliette was home alone doing homework that the world almost ended for her again. Her adoptive parents found their son in a pool of his own blood on the floor, and, despite Juliette's calm assertions that he'd tried to "hurt her really badly", they drug her to the police station and demanded she be locked up.

Juliette sat in the interrogation room for hours, not speaking or even looking at anyone. One of the detectives, a nice lady who said her name was Elizabeth, came in and tried to talk to her, but Juliette just ignored her, refusing to answer any questions or even look at her. Eventually she is packed off to an inner city orphanage, but due to the overpopulated quarters, manages to sneak away before she's missed. Juliette lived on the streets for several months, using a mismatched pair of kitchen knives to protect herself and stealing what she needed to survive, until in the winter of 2006, she somehow ended up on the doorstep of Club Castle.

Nearly comatose, she made a slow, but full physical recovery, but for months still didn't speak, merely went about on her own, shying away from everyone, avoiding all attempts by others to "open up". In summer of 2007, Juliette vanished altogether and was absent for several months, until she returned that autumn, bright-eyed and notably happier than she'd been before. She gave allegiance to no Castle, but rather announced herself a "Joker" and flitted from castle to castle, as well as ghosting about Town on whatever business she deemed important.

Personality: Juliette has the "little girl" act down to an art form. She is small, pale and pretty, and uses that to her advantage when dealing with men. She learned from a very early age how to wiggle under an adult's defenses to obtain what she wants, or to keep them from doing something "bad" to her, either way. She's affectionate and loving to people she knows and trusts, but strangers see only the shy, coquettish little girl she's always been.

Juliette does have a darker side, however. She is unfazed by causing pain when she feels threatened and has a penchant, almost a talent, for quickly learning the use of any bladed weapon, appearing as deadly as a Spade when holding her knives in those small, pale hands. Used to dealing mostly with men, she's usually uncomfortable around adult women, but blends in well with others her own age.

The one being in all the world Juliette cannot exist without is her horse, Dutch. "The Flying Dutchman" returned with her after her disappearance from the Suits and he and the little Joker have a deep, special bond. More often than not, Juliette and Dutch can be seen trotting through town, the horse bereft of bridle or saddle. When asked where she acquired the animal, Juliette simply smiles and replied, "It was maaaagic," and refuses to comment further. (She actually "acquired" the animal from a nearby farm, after "persuading" the owners to let her have him, as Dutch was severely ill and suffering from blatant neglect. She nursed him back to health and brought him back home with her when she returned.)

The world for Juliette is separated into two categories: Family - "aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters" within the Deck; and the rest of the world, which are potential victims if one of her beloved Uncles or Brothers say so. She's the perfect little sister, little niece or daughter, but be wary; the Joke is definitely on the unwary if they underestimate this particular Wild Card.

Appearance: Average height, slender physique (dancer's frame), long black hair and big green eyes. Prefers casual clothing, usually mismatched and in dark colors (jeans, worn leather jacket, a good pair of boots). Appears in her mid-teens, rocks the "little-lost-girl" segue.

Character PB Rachel Dashae

Writing sample: The staccato clop-clop of hooves echoed in the early morning quiet. Out of the mist trotted a large black horse, naked of saddle, bridle or directional influence of any sort, save for the lithe, almost skinny girl astride his wide back. Juliette, her hands buried in Dutch's thick black mane, rode through the streets of Town seemingly without a care, leaning back to stop her horse in front of the market stalls, where vendors were just beginning to set up their wares for the day.

She slid from the animal's back, letting him wander to a nearby patch of grass to nibble, and gave a bow and a jaunty salute to Old Man Peterman, who'd sold vegetables in this same spot for almost forty years. "Hile and merry greet the day!" Juliette regaled him with a smile. The old man greeted the Joker in kind, even passing along two bright shiny apples for the girl and her companion. "G'mornin' t'ye, Missus Julie," he replied, stumping over to pick up a bushel basket of fruit to arrange atop his market stall.

Juliette crunched her treat, but set it aside in lieu of helping the old man arrange his wares, earning a semi-toothy smile and a fond grandfatherly hug, which Juliette returned in kind. "And where'd ye lay yer head then last night, eh?" Peterman inquired with a speculative look at the young girl. That she didn't seem to have a settled place had always bothered him. But then, Juliette was a Joker; they came and went as they liked. Magic, some said.

With a shrug, Juliette returned to her apple, saying, "Kitchen at Heart Castle." And smacked her lips in memory. "They had apple cobbler for dessert. Yummy." Peterman "atched" at her in good-natured chastisement, prompting her giggle and another granddaughterly hug and kiss to his wrinkled cheek. Then she whistled for her great horse, giving him his treat after he trotted over, whickering. Peterman watched, shaking his old head, as the girl crooned at the animal lovingly, then lightly vaulted atop his broad back and, with a wave, continued on her way, the stallion's hooves slowly fading in the distance.
